Your mileage on the Evil Dead remake may vary, but I thought it was fantastic. It brought a relevant update to a film that, for all intents and purposes, had already been remade (with Evil Dead 2). And where more recent Deadite tales had skewed towards humor, Fede Alvarez’s remake of Evil Dead skewed toward grueling terror. And to wonderful results.
His latest, Don’t Breathe, brings personal favorite Stephen Lang his best role since Avatar and brings back his leading lady from Evil Dead, Jane Levy. There are some stunning set pieces and shocking twists that’ll keep you gasping for breath… if you’ll forgive the pun. Our own Jon Partridge reviewed the film at SXSW last year and now we’ve got some free passes to give away to our faithful readers!
