The Alamo Drafthouse Invites You to Join THE BAD BATCH — Special Austin Screening June 18th

“Long Pig Roast” screening event with writer/director Ana Lily Amirpour and star Suki Waterhouse in attendance.

If you’re an Austinite or a regular Cinapse reader you already know the Alamo Drafthouse knows how to throw a hell of a party. Checkout our previous coverage of events such as their beer dinners or outdoor screenings. Well they’re back, with a event this weekend to celebrate the release of NEON’s new title The Bad Batch. Not only will you have a chance to see the film early, but also be part of the Q&A that follows the screening, featuring writer/director Ana Lily Amirpour and star Suki Waterhouse. All while supping good beer and chowing down on some roast pig. Sounds good right?

The Bad Batch is the second film from Amirpour, after her stunning debut with A Girl Who Walks Home Alone at Night. A post-apocalyptic tale where the dregs of humanity are thrown together resulting in some strange communities and even stranger interactions. I was lucky to see the film at Fantastic Fest last year (checkout my colleague David Delgado’s review here). Muscle-bound cannibals, a harem leading Keanu Reeves, and an acid-fueled rave are just some of the sights in this bold and hypnotic affair that is destined to be a cult-favorite.

Press Release:

ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE PRESENTS — THE BAD BATCH “LONG PIG” ROAST

With a post-film Q&A with director Ana Lily Amirpour and star Suki Waterhouse live and in person

Austin, TX — — June 9th, 2017 — — It’s gonna be one helluva weird weekend in Austin as Alamo Drafthouse presents a smoky, meaty, and explosive celebration of NEON’s THE BAD BATCH with a “Long Pig” Roast event. The one-night-only screening event will take place under the big and bright stars at Austin, Texas’ famed Stunt Ranch. Writer/director Ana Lily Amirpour (A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT) and star Suki Waterhouse will both be in attendance for a special post-film discussion. The Q&A will be beamed out live to concurrent screenings of THE BAD BATCH happening at Alamo Drafthouse locations across the country.

“Director Ana Lily Amirpour’s on-screen expressiveness are only to be topped by her in-person energy,” says Alamo Drafthouse founder/CEO Tim League. “She’s going to be live in Austin and has just two priorities for her stay: eat delicious meat and hang out with some upstanding Texans.”

On hand for the evening? A special barbecue menu inspired by THE BAD BATCH and prepared by Micklethwait Craft Meats on-site so that guests can literally sink their teeth into the action. The event will also see the debut of Black Star Brewing Cooperative’s limited edition Bad Batch Ale, a smoked session ale brewed with peachwood smoked malt and a touch of lemon verbena.

The night’s festivities are also set to include pre-show entertainment, an explosive and appropriately weird Dad’s Day photo booth, and what promises to be a raucous post-movie party.

“I am so excited to be a part of this cinematic, sonic and culinary orgy of raw unadulterated fun, that I’m making this my Father’s Day agenda,” says League.
