SILENCE Facebook Live Review with Shane Blackshear

Friend of the site Shane Blackshear is a podcaster and all around great guy (who will also sell you a house if you live in Austin). He and I saw Silence together along with another friend of the site Sam Myrick, and Cinapse-ian Rod Machen, who reviewed the film for our site. Check out his review.

Martin Scorsese’s Silence is such a complicated and remarkable film that Shane and I decided to do an in depth review of the movie over on his Facebook page as a Live stream.

We dive deeply into the film, the original book from Shusaku Endo, and lots of the complicated theology and implications the story presents. I think the conversation turned out quite well and we wrestle with some ideas that couldn’t be covered in a written review. We talk for a long time without any spoilers, and provide plenty of warning before we eventually do dive in to spoilers. So if you’re interested in the deeper theological conversation behind Silence, this is the video review for you.

I hope you enjoy it and let me know if this is the kind of thing you’d like to see more of here at Cinapse.

And I’m Out.
