Earlier this HBO did it again, sparking conversation and intrigue with a new show. In this case it wasn’t dragons and political backstabbing fueling things, it was a murder, which allowed The Night of to delve into the depths of New York’s police and legal systems. Featuring star performances from John Turturro (The Big Lebowski, Barton Fink) and Riz Ahmed (Four Lions, Rogue One), the crime drama is one of the standouts of the year. THE NIGHT OF Synopsis
In The Night Of, Pakistani-American college student Nasir “Naz” Khan, who lives with his parents in Queens, NY, takes his father’s taxi to go to a party in Manhattan. But what starts as a perfect night for Naz becomes a nightmare when he’s arrested for murder. The series examines the police investigation, the legal proceedings, the criminal justice system and Rikers Island, where the accused await trial.
