Cinapse Weekly Roundup — First Week of January, 2015

CINAPSE Weekly Roundup — January 3rd, 2015

Deluged by the plethora of awesome content the Cinapse family provides each week? Worried you missed something? Never fear, each Saturday our Weekly Roundup will show you a little glimpse of the week’s highlights, our most popular posts, new releases, column updates and anything that has provoked a response from internet trolls on up to insightful feedback and discussion.

THEATRICAL RELEASESA bit of horror hits theaters this week with [REC]4: Apocalypse. For other new and current releases, check the Podcast section below.

FEATURESThe Action/Adventure section is back looking at Mitchell. This week Ed took offense to the labeling of Turing biopic, The Imitation Game, as “Oscar bait,” so he wrote a piece explaining why it isn’t. It’s irrelevant either way as we all know that Jon Bon Jovi really saved us all from the Nazis.

Meanwhile, my continued Britishness seems to have rubbed off on our esteemed editor, who has given himself over to the detective show Broadchurch. It’s that hunky David Tennant; no one can resist the former Time Lord.

COLUMNSTwo Cents tackles the appropriately themed New Year’s Evil, while this week’s Pick of the Week is a film SO good I was planning to write about it for next week’s Pick of the Week, true story. Look at James’ writeup of the fantastic Four Lions.

PODCASTRiding in cars with Boy(s) is back with podcast coverage of The Gambler, The Theory of Everything, Top Five, and current VOD hit/North Korea irritant, The Interview.

HOME VIDEO RELEASESSounds like Ed had something akin to a religious experience this week; read his review of new release The Twilight Samurai to see why. As a contrast, I had a decidedly wretched time viewing Stallone’s latest, Reach Me. My review is here so you never have to go through what I did.

Also on release, wrinkly love in Elsa & Fred, Clive Barker’s Lord of Illusions, and finally the Archivist is back looking at the latest releases from the Warner Archive.

HAPPY NEW YEAR CINAPSIANS!
