We don’t mess around with our opinions here at Cinapse. You can always count on our team to bring you their perspective; their [informed] gut instinct. We don’t always get it right, we aren’t always the expert; but we’re committed to being the first ones to admit that.
To say that our team was divided over Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger is putting it mildly. We ran two reviews, both of which ended up being positive. You can read Wilson’s take here, and my take here. But pay close attention to the comments on my post and you’ll see that we’ve been sharply debating the merits of The Lone Ranger, a film that was an outright financial disaster, but has sparked lively debate as to its ultimate quality across the critical community.
Regardless of all that, this is a great-looking movie. A lavish Western with a final act that puts its whole [bloated] budget right up there on the screen for all to see. We know the film has its fans out there, and this blu-ray would make an excellent addition to any fan’s collection.
